Students Making a Difference
What are you doing with your summer?
How about saving a life?

The Global Public Service Academy for Health allows you the chance to discover what a difference you can make

Your experience begins in Guatemala City working with faculty from our collaborators: MIT, Duke or FGCU.  During your orientation workshop, you'll learn to facilitate several screening measurements (height, weight, blood pressure, heart rate, etc), complete some introductory cultural training and study critical health issues of the target community.  You'll be learning about the application of science and technology to improving health.

Then, you'll spend a bit less than four weeks in rural Guatemala, interacting with a host family and working in a health clinic.  You'll continue your studies with faculty and students from our collaborating institutions.  You'll also get a chance to study the local language: Chuj! You'll be dedicated to screening patients, vaccinating, shadowing a physician or nurse, teaching kids to brush their teeth or wash their hands or performing other volunteer tasks.  You'll be applying your science and engineering training to improve the health of those in need.
